How to Install Google Analytics on Showit (And Why You Should!)
Filed In:
Have you ever wondered how to install Google Analytics on Showit and why it’s even worth doing? If you’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed by the tech side of things, I’ve got you covered.
Google Analytics might sound intimidating, but it’s actually an incredibly useful tool for understanding how people interact with your website. And if you’re using Showit (one of my favorite website builders, btw), adding Google Analytics is a breeze.
Let me walk you through the process, explain why it’s important, and share some tips on what to look at once it’s up and running.
Why You Should Install Google Analytics
Before we dive into the steps, let’s talk about why installing Google Analytics is a smart move. It’s not just another tool to check off your list—it’s a way to gain valuable insights about your website and how people are interacting with it.
Here’s why it matters:
Know Your Audience: Get a clearer picture of who’s visiting your site, where they’re coming from, and what they’re interested in.
See What’s Working: Whether it’s an Instagram post, a Pinterest pin, or your email newsletter, you’ll know exactly which efforts are driving traffic.
Optimize Your Website: Use the data to make tweaks that improve user experience, like updating popular pages or adjusting content that isn’t performing well.
Installing Google Analytics means you’re making informed decisions instead of guessing what works.
How to Install Google Analytics on Showit
Adding Google Analytics to your Showit site is surprisingly straightforward—no coding required! Here’s how to do it:
Click the Start Measurement button and set up your account by entering your business name.
Add your website’s details, like its name and URL, and confirm your time zone and currency.
Step 2: Grab Your Measurement ID
Open your Google Analytics account and head to the Admin section.
Click on Data Streams and select Web.
Enter your website’s URL to set up a data stream.
Copy the Measurement ID (it’ll look like “G-XXXXXXX”). You’ll need this for the next step!
Step 3: Link Your Google Analytics to Showit
Log in to your Showit account and open your site settings.
Scroll to the Advanced Settings section and paste the Measurement ID in the Google Analytics field.
Save your changes, and you’re good to go!
Once you’ve set everything up, Google Analytics starts collecting data about your website visitors within a day or two.
Key Metrics to Track as a Beginner
Google Analytics is packed with features, but you don’t have to dive into everything at once. Focus on these beginner-friendly metrics to get started:
Traffic Sources: Find out where your visitors are coming from—social media, search engines, or direct links.
Most Visited Pages: See which pages are catching your audience’s attention. This can help you prioritize content updates or plan new blog posts.
Bounce Rate: Measure how many visitors leave after viewing just one page. A lower bounce rate is ideal.
Time on Site: Track how long visitors are staying. If they’re leaving quickly, it might mean your content needs a refresh or your site needs better navigation.
These numbers give you a solid starting point for understanding how your site is performing and where to make improvements.
