Have you ever thought about adding a podcast page to your Showit website? Whether you’re just starting with podcasting or looking to reach a bigger audience, adding a podcast page to your site can be a game-changer for your brand.
I’m here to guide you through the process, explaining not just how to do it but also why it can benefit your brand. Plus, I’ll introduce you to my Showit podcast page template that will make the whole process easy, whether you go for a static page or dynamic content from WordPress.
Why add a podcast page to your Showit site?
Before we get into the details, let’s talk about why adding a podcast page is a great idea for your business. It’s not just a place to showcase your expertise; it’s a great way to build trust, reach more people, and strengthen your online presence.
A Stronger Bond: Podcasts help you connect personally with your audience. Listeners feel like they know you, which can build trust faster than blog posts or emails.
Wider Reach: With a podcast, you’ll reach more people, especially those who prefer listening on-the-go.
SEO Benefits: Regularly updating your podcast gives search engines new content to love, which can help more people find your site.
Choosing the right format for your podcast page
The first step in adding a podcast page is deciding on the format: static or dynamic. But what do these terms mean?
Static Podcast Page: A static page is a simple, easy-to-set-up page that doesn’t change unless you manually update it. You add new episodes by hand, which gives you full control over the content and when it appears.
Dynamic Podcast Page: A dynamic page, on the other hand, is connected to your WordPress RSS feed and updates automatically with new episodes as they’re published. This means your listeners always have the latest content without you having to manually add each episode.
How to add a podcast page to your Showit website
Let’s get into the steps to actually building your page. I’ll walk you through both methods, using the Showit platform, which is known for its drag-and-drop simplicity and stunning visual designs.
If You’re Going Static:
Design Your Page: Start with a basic layout. Include a section for episode titles, descriptions, and maybe an embedded audio player. My Showit podcast templatecan help speed up this process, offering a beautifully designed layout that matches your brand aesthetic.
Add Content: Manually add your podcast episodes. Include compelling titles, descriptions, and direct links. Don’t forget to add images or graphics that align with your episode themes.
Test Your Page: Before going live, preview your page on different devices to make sure everything looks great and functions well. Showit allows you to view your site as it would appear on desktops, tablets, and smartphones.
If You’re Going Dynamic:
Set Up WordPress Integration: First, make sure your Showit account is linked to a WordPress blog. This is where you’ll manage your podcast RSS feed.
Design Your Page in Showit: If you’re unsure how to design your page or are short on time, you can always start with my podcast template. Customize it to match your brand and make sure it fits well with the rest of your website.
Please note: When designing a dynamic podcast page, make sure to create it as a blog template for both the Main Podcast Page and the Single Post (where the episode is shown). Use “WordPress Placeholders” for things like images and titles, which will be filled in through WordPress. (Check out the screenshot below.)
Embed RSS Feed: Use a plugin or custom code to pull your podcast episodes directly onto your Showit page. This will automatically update your podcast page whenever you upload a new episode to WordPress.
Finalize and Test: As with the static page, make sure to preview and test your dynamic page. Check that new episodes appear as expected and there are no glitches with the feed.
Promoting Your New Podcast Page
Once your podcast page is live, it’s time to promote it! Share the update across all your social media platforms, email newsletters, and be sure to mention it in your podcast episodes. Encourage your audience to visit the page, listen directly from the site, and share episodes they love with their friends and colleagues!
