My Journey from Squarespace to Showit
If you’ve been apart of my entrepreneurial journey as a website designer, you’d remember my past love for Squarespace due to its simplicity and e-commerce features. However, Pinterest kept showcasing so many captivating sites that I was noticing, leading me to Showit. This platform blew my mind with its unmatched design flexibility while having drag-and-drop interface. Seamlessly integrating with WP Engine (a powerhouse for SEO), it was a win-win situation.
Switching from Squarespace to Showit
1. Full Creative Freedom
Showitis a creative playground. Instead of fitting into templates or blocks, they give you a complete blank canvas to work with. Whether it’s multiple custom fonts or placing images anywhere you’d like, the limit is endless on Showit. Squarespace would give me headache every time I would design, where something doesn’t fit within their blocks, or I’d have to use so much CSS coding to make the design look good on the mobile site. Showit fixed all of these issues! It’s so easy to use, fully customizable, and doesn’t involve any coding for basic features – making edits, building sections and rearranging content is super easy.
(Watch the video below to see just how easy Showit is and find out why so many successful entrepreneurs like Jenna Kutcher, Boss Babe, Jaclyn Johnson, and many others, use Showit themselves!)
2. SEO Magic with Showit
My transition to Showit improved my SEO like I’ve never seen before. My impressions grew from 1.28K on Squarespace to a staggering 315k on Showit within a year of me switching platforms (with also a focus on good website design, blogging, etc). It’s undeniable evidence of Showit’s SEO capabilities with WordPress Engine, further amplified by plugins like Yoast SEO.
3. Code-Free Customizations
While Squarespace did offer customization and plug-and-play sections, a lot of unique designs involved stressful coding. With Showit, even the littlest of design tweaks are straightforward. My clients find it refreshingly easy to update their sites without any technical hitches or stressing out about CSS coding.
4. Amazing Mobile Design Experience
Responsive design is crucial. Showit’s mobile design flexibility is a full experience. You get to craft the mobile version alongside the desktop, offering unlimited flexibility to make it look good on any device. You can hide content and even showcase different images or copy depending on the screen size—it’s truly amazing!
5. Outstanding Showit Support
The Showit team is the best I’ve ever encountered in the design industry! Unlike WordPress, where external developers could cost a fortune or Squarespace where the customer service is minimal or hard to reach, Showit’s membership offers amazon live support. Also a fun bonus—they always send the best GIFs 😂
Thinking of Switching to Showit?
Taking the leap from one platform to another might seem stressful and not worth it, but with a bit of preparation and guidance, it can be quite seamless! Try out one month of Showit for free right here.
If you work with me directly on a new custom website design, I handle the transition for you, making it a seamless and stress-free move. If you prefer to transfer yourself, here’s the best way to do it:
Backup Everything: Before any major switch, always ensure you have a backup of your Squarespace content, including images, blog posts, and any other crucial data. This ensures you have a safety net should anything go wrong.
Domain Transfer: If you’ve got a custom domain with Squarespace, you’ll need to transfer it to either a domain provider (I recommend GoDaddy) or point it to your new Showit site. While this might sound techy, Showit offer amazing launch support o help you through this process.
Recreate Your Design: With Showit’s impressive design capabilities, you’ll be recreating rather than directly importing your design. This offers a great opportunity to refine and upgrade any design aspects you’ve been meaning to change. Plus, with the drag-and-drop feature, this can be more fun than it sounds! You can also use one of my affordable DIY templates, where the design is already halfway finished before you even start.
SEO Considerations: Ensure that your URLs remain consistent where possible. This will help retain any SEO performance you’ve built up over the years on Squarespace. Also, make use of the SEO tools available on Showit to further optimize your site.
Test Everything: Before officially launching, navigate through your new Showit site as if you’re a visitor. Ensure links work, pages load correctly, and the mobile version looks impeccable.
Seek Support: Remember, Showit has extensive documentation and a support team ready to assist. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you find yourself stuck at any stage.
Wrapping Up
With the above steps in mind, transitioning from Squarespace to Showit can be an exciting journey rather than a stressful task. Embrace the change and enjoy the creative process.
