If you saw the recent announcement of Figma Sites and you’re wondering if it’s worth using for your business or website, you’re not alone. We’re big fans of Figma over here and use it regularly to design site mockups. But when it comes to building a live business website on it, we’ve got some thoughts.
When we first heard about it at their recent conference, we were curious too. But after looking into it, our answer is not right now. We don’t recommend it for service providers or business owners who want a reliable, strategic site that can grow with the business.
Let’s get into it.
Okay, so if you’ve never used Figma before, it’s basically a design tool that website designers (like us) have been using for years to mock up websites before building those websites on other platforms like Showit, Webflow, or Framer.
Until now, Figma has always been used as a design tool.
But now, Figma is trying to let users skip that second step. Instead of designing in Figma and developing the website somewhere else, you can now publish a live website directly from Figma.
This is a pretty major shift! It sounds like a dream for DIYers, creatives, and tech-savvy business owners who want to simplify the process. But here’s the thing. Just because it’s convenient doesn’t mean it’s ready to support your brand, your sales, or your long-term business growth.
We love trying new tech tools, but when it comes to your business website, the one that’s supposed to bring in traffic, connect with your audience, and grow your brand, reliability matters. A lot.
Here’s why we wouldn’t use Figma Sites for your business right now:
This isn’t about being anti-Figma. We actually LOVE Figma as a design tool and use it all the time in our business. But hosting and publishing your website directly from it is a completely different story. Especially when you’re trying to build a business that people trust, find online, and engage with.
Your website isn’t just a portfolio. It’s your digital home. It should be clear, easy to navigate, and designed to convert, whether that’s for bookings, inquiries, email sign-ups, or purchases. Right now, Figma Sites just doesn’t have the structure to do that effectively.
If you’re looking for a beautiful, high-performing, and easy-to-use website builder, we recommend checking out Showit and Framer. They’re both great options for online service providers, and we use them for our clients all the time.
Let us break them down:
Showit is a great choice for creatives, coaches, and service providers who want a completely custom design experience without needing to code. If having a strong visual brand is important to you, this platform gives you a lot of flexibility.
You can move things around freely on the page, use your own fonts, and design something that truly matches your brand vibe. It also connects with WordPress for blogging, so you get a beautiful design paired with powerful blog capabilities.
Pros:
Cons:
Showit is one of the most beginner-friendly platforms that still gives you a custom feel. If your goal is to have a site that looks elevated without needing tech support every week, this is a great choice.
Framer is modern, sleek, and feels a lot like Figma, which makes it a great option if you want the same visual experience but with more structure and live-site tools.
It’s ideal for people who want a bit more interaction and polish, things like scroll animations, embedded forms, live previews, and super clean layouts. Plus, it’s fast. Like, really fast.
Pros:
Cons:
If you like the design flexibility of Figma but need a real platform for SEO, content, and conversions, Framer is a solid step up from Figma Sites without losing that creative freedom.
Here’s a quick guide to help you decide:
• Choose Showit if you want a drag and drop website that’s beautiful, strategic, and simple to manage. It’s a great fit for personal brands, coaches, and creatives who want a unique online presence
• Choose Framer if you love the design flexibility of Figma and want more advanced site features, animations, and built-in tools that actually support business growth
Either option will give you a solid, scalable foundation and more support than Figma Sites currently can.
And if you’re still not sure, don’t stress. This is what we help our clients figure out all the time: what will actually support their goals, simplify their life, and feel like them.
Your website doesn’t just need to look good. It needs to work for your business. It should attract your ideal clients, help you show up confidently, and support you as you grow.
Figma Sites might be getting a lot of attention right now, but it’s not something we’d recommend for service-based business owners. It’s missing a lot of important features and doesn’t offer the tools or flexibility most businesses need.
Platforms like Showit and Framer are much stronger options. They’re built for growth, give you creative control, and actually support the kind of business you’re building.
And if you’re feeling unsure about what to choose or how to bring your vision to life, we’d love to help.
You deserve a website that feels like you and works with you, not against you.
